Your New Role
In your new role as Litigation Secretary, you will provide full secretarial support to solicitors and fee earners within the Litigation Department. Manage diaries, arrange appointments, meetings, and court hearings. Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, emails, and telephone calls. Prepare and format legal documents, letters, forms, and court bundles. Maintain accurate client files, both electronic and hard copy. Open, close, and archive files in accordance with firm procedures.
In terms of Litigation Support, you will assist with the preparation of court documents and legal pleadings. Prepare trial bundles, witness statements, briefs, and hearing papers. File documents with courts and relevant authorities within required deadlines. Monitor key dates and limitation periods. Support solicitors throughout pre-action, court, tribunal, and settlement processes. Conduct basic legal and administrative research as required.
You will act as a professional first point of contact for clients. Liaise with barristers, courts, experts, insurers, and external agencies. Ensure a high standard of client service is maintained at all times. Handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
What You Need To Succeed
As Litigation Secretary you will have;
- Previous experience as a Legal Secretary, Litigation Secretary (defence or claimant).
- A strong understanding of litigation processes and court procedures.
- Excellent typing and document production skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, and Teams).
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- An ability to handle confidential information professionally.
