Job Description

Your New Company

We’re delighted to be partnering with an internationally minded law firm recruiting for a Transactional Services Lawyer to join their Corporate team in Belfast.

The Corporate team is consistently top-ranked, holding Tier 1 status from Legal 500 and Band 1 from Chambers & Partners for corporate M&A. The team currently consists of 16 partners, 15 associates, three legal directors, two trainees, one paralegal and a knowledge lawyer, operating across UK offices.

Your New Role

The Transactional Services Lawyer is an exciting, newly created position within the Corporate team in Belfast but working with the UK Group. You will take the lead across the firm's London, Manchester, Cardiff and Belfast offices on transaction services and related functions, combining legal expertise with innovation and process improvement.

The role involves managing transactional due diligence exercises, liaising with Corporate lawyers leading transactions, specialist lawyers in other practice areas, and overseas lawyers on cross-border matters, to deliver due diligence reports with appropriate risk analysis and recommendations.

The role encompasses providing training to specialist lawyers in other practice groups on delivering their work product in a transactional context, developing new products in adjacent areas such as legal audit services, and preparing business development content focused on transaction services issues. You will also support the wider Corporate team on other transactional work as capacity permits.

You will also be responsible for developing best-practice due diligence and reporting processes, including creating consistent and user-friendly report formats for different transaction types and specific clients. A significant element of the role involves working with the Technology team to identify tools for automating transaction services processes, such as due diligence and disclosure, with a view to achieving time and cost efficiencies.

Fee-Earning Status

This role is not a standard fee-earning position. It is primarily focused on transaction services functions such as managing due diligence exercises, developing best-practice processes, working with the Technology team on automation tools, and delivering training. However, you will also support the wider Corporate team on other transactional work as capacity permits, which may involve some fee-earning activity on a secondary basis.

What You Need To Succeed

As the Transactional Services Lawyer, you will ideally have a minimum of 4 years' PQE in Corporate/M&A working on UK transactions, together with experience of, or working with teams in, legal technology, legal project management or legal process design.

Our client is looking for someone with excellent written, analytical and communication skills, strong attention to detail, and an ambitious, proactive, commercial and responsive attitude. A keen interest in developing technology-driven solutions and improving processes within a transactional context is essential, as is comfort with taking responsibility for work output and dealing directly with clients and colleagues across multiple offices.

What You'll Receive In Return

As the Transactional Services Lawyer, you will receive a highly competitive salary, package of benefits, hybrid working etc...
